What personal data we collect and why we collect it

When you sign up for an account for Cloud Grid Designer, you will need to provide a verified email address and a first name. This information will be retained while the account is active. The email address may be used to update you with important information on the Cloud Grid Designer, such as expected down time, important updates or other such information. It will not be used to send advertisements, promotions or other such emails. It will not be shared with any third party.

Blog Comments
When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. We do not share this data with anyone.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.
Media in Grid Designer
You may upload an image in order to digitize that image into a project grid. These images are not kept or shared in any way by our site. They are analyzed only for the purpose of creating the digitized grid, which is visible only to you.
Designs in Grid Designer
Your designs are owned by you. You retain all rights of copyright to them. You are free to use them in any way you desire, including commercial use. They are saved in different ways, depending upon the version of Grid Designer you are using:
Legacy Grid Designer: We do not access or keep any designs you create on the site. When saved, your designs are stored in the browser local storage of the browser you were using when you saved them. They exist locally on your device. You can also export your designs to files on your local device.
Cloud Grid Designer: Designs are stored in a server database so that you may have cloud access to them from all devices you may log into. We do not actively view them, however, they may be viewed by us if we need to do so to resolve a software or other issue, as part of maintenance of the site. You can also export your designs to files on your local device.
We reserve the right to remove designs from users that have been inactive for a long period of time. The period of time will be at our own discretion. Removal may be done without contacting the user. If you believe you will be gone for an extended period of time, you should back up your designs using the export feature to files on your own device. These can be reloaded in the future, if needed.
Shared Designs in Cloud and Legacy: If you elect to share a design, the design is kept anonymously on our server and may be deleted or archived at our convenience in the event that disk space becomes an issue. We agree to keep shared designs for at least 6 months, but reserve the right to change the time limit in the future, as needed, depending upon disk space usage. Your shared design can be seen only by those you choose to send your share link to. We do not view or collect shared designs. Your retain all rights of copyright for the designs you create, shared or not.
When you share a link to a design with another person, that person can load a copy of that design into the Grid Designer tool. They can then edit that copy of the design. They cannot modify your original shared design, only the copy they have loaded can be modified.
